May Flowers from April Showers
Can you believe we have already experienced six weeks of online learning? More and more staff and students are starting to recognize some of the good coming out of this difficult situation. Families are spending more time together connecting, talking and playing games; students are learning to be more self-directed in their learning and teachers are learning to use digital platforms to make learning continue.
We are looking forward to some students returning to the classroom two days/week in the month of June. Parents are asked to complete a survey this week to indicate if their child will be returning or not. SD 23 staff and are working hard on developing a safe, socially distanced plan for student re-entry. Please stay tuned for more information as we have it. If you have not yet completed this survey, please do so ASAP here: https://sd23survey.sd23.bc.ca/Phase-3-Survey.aspx . We need to hear from you so we can plan our reentry for June 1. Even if you are planning to keep your children at home, we ask that you still complete the survey at the link above.
Thanks to all parents for assisting in guiding your children on their individual learning journey. We may all look back on this time and say, as difficult as this was, our family connected in a deeper way than they ever had before! Let's not forget what we have learned in this season as being most important to our humanity! Stay healthy, stay connected, stay strong! We miss you all!

PAC and the Four Food Chiefs Playground
PAC, staff, parents, students and our landscape architect, Fiona Barton of Outland Design, have been working on a plan for a new natural play space oriented around the Okanagan Indigenous story, The Four Food Chiefs. If you have ideas for what you would like to see in our playground, please email them to [email protected]. We hope to see student drawings, pictures using found loose parts or whatever you can think of to get your idea across. This is the time to speak up about what is important to you for our future playground! Thanks! |
Moving? If you are NOT planning on attending SVE next year please call the school as soon as possible at 250-870-5119 or email us: [email protected]. Soon we will be organizing students into glasses for next year so it is important that we have this information.
How to receive TEXT Message reminders from the school
We often send reminders of school events and important updates through our TEXT message system. If you want this quick reminder, all you need to do is type the letter “Y” to the number 978338 and you will be signed up. Thanks for registering to stay in the loop! |
Raise money for our SVE new playground! Bring your bottles and cans to Columbia Bottle Depot
The bottle depot is still open for business and you can help our PAC raise money for our playground by bringing your bottles and Cans to the Return It-Express account at the Columbia Bottle Depot; 1936 Kent Road! Just bring your clear bag full of recyclables, print a sticker with our school phone number (250) 870-5119, and attach the stickers to your bags of bottle returns. Our School PAC account will be credited and money will be put toward a new PLAYGROUND climbing structure! NO SORTING required... Thanks for supporting our school fundraising efforts.
