From the SVE Admin Team
Farewell Ms. Everett; welcome Ms. Cicchelli We are sad to tell you that our wonderful VP, Ms Jodi Everett, is taking on a new role in a secondary school downtown. Ms. Everett has extensive experience working with high school aged children, and her skills are needed there! We will welcome Ms. Maria Cicchelli, who has been teaching at A.S. Matheson, but will be moving into the Vice-Principal office beside Mr. Coats over the break. A reminder that due to the stat holiday on the 3rd, we start back on Tuesday, January 4th.
A Season of Giving: We have made it to the break (almost!) and are so grateful to be part of a community that supported 27 families in this season of caring and sharing. While all of the schools in our district were also very generous, from what we understand, none of them were able to support that many families. The smiles of delight on the faces of families receiving this generosity is really something to see. Thank you all again for your kindness.
Our Christmas Concert video: Follow this link to watch your children perform! A huge thank you to Mrs. Schjodt, who not only taught all the music and choreography, but also spent almost 18 hours on the computer editing all the film to make a wonderful video for you to share with your extended family! Thank you also to Ms. Wannop who came in for two days to help out.
Literacy Tips - There is a lot of research around how children learn to read and write, and we know that oral language plays a large role. Your child listening and speaking with you can actually help them develop as readers. Please see Mrs. Krebbers website here for more ideas and tips.
When your child is sick - Please keep your child home if they are sick. The best way to keep things from spreading is to keep sick children away from healthy children, and by handwashing and mask wearing when all together. Call the office if you have any questions. Thank you!
School Song with lyrics - Mrs. Schjodt put this video together so you can read the lyrics as well.

You should have received the email from the district about how to purchase a Harmony Day shirt, but the image did not come through. Here it is.

PAC Update
Thank you to our Springvalley Elementary community for helping us in our fundraising efforts this year so far. Due to weather and the supply issues that restaurants have been facing, we had to cancel the November hot lunch and move it to December 17th. Grade Five parents, if you have not e-transferred $8.50 for the grad hoody, please send it to [email protected]. Do you have a lot of empty recycling cans you don’t wish to deal with? Why not add them to our ongoing bottle drive through Columbia Bottle Depot on Kent Rd. Please put in only 12 glass bottles per bag to prevent the bottles from breaking and cutting the bag or those sorting. Just use the phone number 250-870-5119. Our next Springvalley Elementary PAC meeting will be on Wednesday, January 12th at 7pm through Zoom # 848 213 0155 just use the password SVEPAC. I would also like to remind everyone that your Springvalley Elementary Parent Advisory Council is here to help be a voice for you the parents so if you have great fundraising ideas, any ideas that could help enrich the school year for our children, or need support voicing your concerns please feel free to email us at [email protected] . We are looking for a parent to take on the Secretary role for the PAC. Please let us know if you are interested. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Warm, and have a wonderful Christmas!
