Thank you, thank you, thank you! We want to thank you all for your support throughout this most unusual year. We have seen your children learn and grow in all kinds of wonderful ways, and hope that you are so very proud of them! We want you to know that your PAC went to great lengths to arrange for a special treat for every one of our Grade Five grads, and that in the hectic pace of the last day, Mr. Coats forgot all about them! There is a card in the mail to you, which we mailed out Tuesday afternoon, so we hope you receive this very soon. We shared the link to the Grade Five certificate ceremony with all Grade Five parents, and can now share with you our Virtual Talent Show. Thanks to those who sent in videos of their children's performances.
Learning Summaries: If your child was absent on Tuesday and did not collect their Learning Summary (or indoor shoes and desk contents!) please know that Ms. Angus, Ms. Everett and Mr. Coats will be at school all next week. Give us a call at 250-870-5119 to set up a time, or to make sure we aren't in a meeting and then come to the front doors.
So long, farewell..
We said goodbye to a number of staff members, but are excited to welcome some new faces to our team. We said a sad goodbye to Mrs. Brownlee at the end of May, as she retired after more than 20 years as part of this wonderful community. We also said a farewell-but-hope-to-see-you-soon to Ms. Drobot, Ms. Meynell, Ms. Dragland, Mrs. DeGroot, Mr. Vautour, Ms. Reitmeier, Mrs. Gabert, Ms. Maguire, and Ms. Schellenberg. There is a chance that some of these family members may be back, but we want to welcome Ms. Barclay, Ms. Sadlowski, Ms. Stolar, and Ms. Stutters to Springvalley Elementary. Watch your email at the end of August for any other updates, and more information about the 2021-22 school year.

FreshGrade Portfolios - This is our primary way of communicating your child's learning at Springvalley. Digital learning portfolios are where your child has the opportunity to share what they are learning and have CRITICALLY IMPORTANT LEARNING CONVERSATIONS with you. Please login and make a difference in the learning your child is engaging with. You may want to set one night a week where you review your child's site and talk about:
1. What they are doing well. (more than just "good job." Boost their self esteem by proving to them that they are doing well with something specific: ex. "You have lots of interesting words like 'brilliant' and 'magical' in your writing example").
2. What they want to improve and next steps in their learning.
