Growth Mindset
We continue to focus on a growth mindset at SVE where students learn from their mistakes and believe in themselves. "I can't do it YET" has replaced " I can't do it" and "pursue my personal best no matter who I work with" is one of our school mantras. Our team is also increasing our awareness of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and how a student's self awareness, ability to regulate emotions, be socially aware, establish and maintain healthy relationships and make responsible decisions are all an important part of learning while at school and at home. Our School District SEL team has put together some resources for schools and families. DRIVING in NEIGHBORHOOD
Please be considerate of our neighbors by not using their driveways or boulevards to park for pick up or drop off. We have seen some drivers actually using the lawns of our neighbors to turn around! There is a wide turn around at the end of the cul-de-sac on Cornwall.

PAC Updates
Wow November already! Well we are happy to report that your Parent Advisory Council has been brainstorming some fantastic and different ways to fundraise for some new playground equipment. We will be doing three different fundraisers leading up to Christmas that will offer a variety of items. Keep an eye out for information regarding ordering Purdy’s Chocolates, Scentsy, and SVE Spirit Wear in the coming weeks. We are hoping to help make your Christmas shopping easier while helping our Skyhawk community...and remember you can always raise money for our playground by bringing your bottles and cans to the Columbia Bottle Depot on KENT ROAD... just go to the Return It-Express at the Columbia Bottle Depot; 1936 Kent Road with your clear bag full of recyclables, print a sticker with our school phone number (250) 870-5119, and attach the stickers to your clear bags - no sorting required!! Our School PAC account will be credited and money will be put toward the new PLAYGROUND climbing structure! Thanks for supporting our school fundraising efforts. Our next PAC meeting will be November 12th at 7pm through Zoom and we encourage all SVE parents to join in! The zoom address will be sent out closer to the meeting. Should you have any fundraising ideas or want to add a topic to the next PAC meeting agenda please email it to [email protected]. Stay safe, stay healthy and keep warm!
