Year End Growth
Learning and growth is our business at SVE. As such, we love this sunflower plant picture showing evidence of growth. These sprouts were planted by Essential Service Worker children at the beginning of the pandemic. And seeing their growth now, reminds us of the growth of our children. We have all grown through this pandemic. Parents have learned to support their children's learning in new and powerful ways at home. Teachers have learned to deliver learning through new virtual pathways. And most importantly, our students have learned to take ownership of their learning.
We are so grateful to our SVE team for ensuring that quality learning continued during these unsettling times. We are also very grateful to you, our parents and guardians for all of the support and guidance you have given your children to support their online learning journey.
To show our appreciation, we would like to invite you to a parent/volunteer appreciation coffee drive through on Friday, June 19 OR Tuesday, June 23 from 8 – 8:25 am in our school parking lot. The staff at Springvalley want to thank our parents and volunteers for all of the support you have given us this year, particularly in the last few months. Please join us for a free cup of Starbucks coffee and a muffin as you drop your child off at school or head to work between 8 and 8:25 on June 19 or 23. Parents will be asked to drive around the parking lot loop to pick up a cup coffee and a muffin near the front entrance of the school. We hope to see you June 19 OR June 23!
We all have grown in so many emotional competencies during this pandemic time. As the picture below says so eloquently, "In the rush to return to normal, use this time to consider which parts of normal are worth rushing back to". Nothing in this world impacts our lives more than our relationships with those around us. Let's take care to maintain all the good we have gained in this time, and keep what's important as we move back towards normal.
At this time we are still not sure if we will be back to school full-time in September or if we will be continuing a part time schedule. Over the summer months, please keep listening for updates from our Provincial Health Officer and Premier, and we will do our best to keep you informed through our website and/or emails.
Stay safe, stay kind, and enjoy your time with your family.
Ms. Stevenson and Mr. Van Brummelen

- BORROWED TECHNOLOGY??
- Many families have borrowed technology devices from SVE during this period of remote learning. We hope these devices have further enriched your child's learning in the last few months. As the school year comes to a close, devices will need to be returned to schools once again.
In preparation for the return of devices in the coming weeks, we ask all families who borrowed devices to please do the following things prior to returning equipment to schools.
- Please back up and save any files that might be stored locally on your iPad.
- Please wipe down your device using soft dry cloth to remove dirt, dust or crumbs from the keyboard and vents. Staff will sanitize devices upon return to the schools following district guidelines and with provided cleaners at the school. Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

PAC Updates
YOUR PAC will be hosting a staff appreciation breakfast on Thursday, June 18. If you have anything you would like to contribute to the breakfast please contact PAC president Kassy Cleveland at [email protected] by Tuesday, June 16. PLAYGROUND UPDATES PAC, staff, parents, students and our landscape architect, Fiona Barton of Outland Design, have been working on a plan for a new natural play space oriented around the Okanagan Indigenous story, The Four Food Chiefs. If you have ideas for what you would like to see in our playground, please email them to [email protected]. We hope to see student drawings, pictures using found loose parts or whatever you can think of to get your idea across. This is the time to speak up about what is important to you for our future playground! Thanks! |
Moving? If you are NOT planning on attending SVE next year please call the school as soon as possible at 250-870-5119 or email us: [email protected].
