Learning Portfolios and Summaries
Most of our classes are using FreshGrade portfolios to communicate student learning this year. Students and teachers have been busy posting evidence of learning on their electronic portfolios with pictures, videos and writing. Parents should be signed up on FreshGrade so that you can login securely, see your child's work online and have conversations with your child throughout the term.
The most POWERFUL conversation to inspire confidence about their learning is having your child show you on their portfolio HOW THEY HAVE IMPROVED in their work. Parents affirming their child's growth is proven to have a HUGE impact on child motivation and performance!
If you have not yet signed up, please contact your child's teacher or the office so we can assist you. The Term 1 Learning Summaries will be sent home with students on Friday, December 13 so you can further the conversations about your child's learning. Please return the Learning Summary Progress Report envelopes to your child's teacher as soon as possible. They will be re-used in the second and third term this school year.
WINTER is HERE!
As the temperatures drop, please remind students to dress for the weather each day before coming to school. Our students spend time outside every day. Please be sure they have outerwear that will keep their bodies warm in cooler weather. We strongly encourage a toque and mittens to allow for creative play time. We hope to see lots of awesome snow creations this winter! Thanks for helping to remind students that "SNOW is for BUILDING not for throwing at SVE".
Free Clothing Available
Springvalley Elementary School has a clothing closet located in the Indigenous Gathering Room. We encourage parents to visit during the breakfast club. We currently have quite a few winter boots, many hoodies, winter coats and snow pants. There are also, socks, mittens and shirts as needed. Thank you to our Indigenous Advocate, Shannon Wynne, for coordinating this important program.

Both concerts will begin promptly at 6pm. There will be dress rehearsals during the afternoons on those two days. PAC NEWS
Hi Skyhawks! First of all, PAC would like say a huge THANK YOU for your support during our Purdy's Chocolatier Fundraiser!!! We sold over $5,000 worth of goodies and will profit over $1,400!! Amazing!!!! Orders will be going home with students on December 13th. If you would like to make alternative arrangements for pick up, please contact us at [email protected] Another note, parents please remind your child(ren) if you have ordered hot lunch and they didn't receive theirs; they need to let the lunch monitor/supervisor know and come to the kitchen so we can correct the issue. We cannot fix the problem if we don't know about it; remember, we are all volunteers and are human and make mistakes. |
