And now term three We so hope everyone was able to enjoy some family time over the break, and that our students are rested and ready to learn. Traditionally this is a very productive time of year. We do know if begins to get harder to get young ones to bed as the days get longer and longer, but we also know that sleepy and tired children are not at their best when at school.
Ramadan Mubarak! We send our wishes for good health and prosperity to all of our families who are celebrating this holy month. رَمَضَان كَرِيم
Any changes for next year: Do you have and plans to move or change schools for next year? Please let the office know as soon as possible to help with our planning. If you, or someone you know has a four year old at home who is going to come to Kindergarten next year, follow this link to the information to help you with that process.
Attendance: Please let the office know if your child is going to be absent or late.
Supervision before and after school: We begin our supervision outside 8:10am each morning, and there are no staff members outside before that time. After school we have supervision outside until 2:43pm, and will ask any children not picked up or supervised by a parent at that time will be brought to the office for us to call you. There are a number of students playing after that time, and for safety reasons, we cannot leave them out there unsupervised.
Literacy Tips - There is a lot of research around how children learn to read and write, and we know that oral language plays a large role. Your child listening and speaking with you can actually help them develop as readers. Please see Mrs. Krebbers website here for more ideas and tips.
When your child is sick - Please keep your child home if they are sick. The best way to keep things from spreading is to keep sick children away from healthy children, and by handwashing and mask wearing when all together. Call the office if you have any questions. Thank you!
School Song with lyrics - Mrs. Schjodt put this video together so you can read the lyrics as well.

PAC Update
Hello to everyone in the Springvalley Elementary School Community. I hope you were able to enjoy all or part of your two week spring break! A Reminder for those of you that have ordered Purdy's Chocolate for Easter, the drive thru Pick up is on Sunday April 10th from 10am-12pm. Hot Lunch is now open to order for the rest of the year. Just a friendly reminder that any changes and payments for Hot Lunches must be received 7 days prior to the date of the Hot Lunch. No changes will be accepted after that deadline. If you have ordered but have not paid for your hot lunch your order will be removed and your child will not receive what was ordered. If your child has not received their lunch you need to instruct your child to talk to an adult right away so that an immediate resolution can be found. The bottle fundraiser is still ongoing, so if you have a lot of empty recycling cans you don’t wish to deal with, then take them down to the Columbia Bottle Depot on Kent Rd. Please only put 12 glass bottles per bag to prevent the bottles from breaking and cutting the bag or those sorting. Just use the phone number 250-870-5119. Have you signed up to our FACEBOOK page? This is a great resource to learn about upcoming fundraisers, school events, and free webinars available to the Springvalley Elementary school community. We would like to invite you to our next Springvalley Elementary PAC meeting on April 13th at 7pm through Zoom # 848 2130 155 just use the password SVEPAC. I would also like to remind everyone that your Springvalley Elementary Parent Advisory Council is here to help be a voice for you the parents so if you have great fundraising ideas, any ideas that could help enrich the school year for our children, or need support voicing your concerns please feel free to email us at [email protected] . - Does everyone have a friend at recess?
- What was the book about that your teacher read?
- What’s the word of the week?
- Did anyone do anything silly to make you laugh?
