Happy New Year!
We hope that you all had some relaxing and connecting time with your family over the break. We are back, refreshed and ready to go for what is a very productive time of year academically. We are very pleased to welcome Ms. Jodi Everett as our new Vice-Principal, who comes to us with many years of experience from several schools in our district. Mr. David Coats is starting to feel at home in his new office as Principal. Do please contact the office if you have any questions for us.
We understand how difficult it is to pick up your children when there is such limited space to park in our neighborhood, but please remember that we do have some families who need to be able to pull right up to the wheelchair ramp. If you would like to walk your child to class, we ask that you park on the street. Many families are able to drive through and just drop off their children when cars are not left in the laneway. We also ask that you PLEASE respect our neighbors and do not park in their driveways or on their property at any time. Thank you!

December Highlights
On behalf of the 26 families who received an overflowing food hamper that last week before the break, we have to thank all of you for your kindness and generosity in helping make their holiday celebrations so special.
We held our virtual Winter Celebration Concert on Thursday, December 17th, and have since uploaded each presentation to Freshgrade in case you missed it. We also finished off the term with a very popular spirit day, and came to school in our pajamas.

FreshGrade Portfolios - This is our primary way of communicating your child's learning at Springvalley. Digital learning portfolios are where your child has the opportunity to share what they are learning and have CRITICALLY IMPORTANT LEARNING CONVERSATIONS with you. Please login and make a difference in the learning your child is engaging with. You may want to set one night a week where you review your child's site and talk about:
1. What they are doing well. (more than just "good job." Boost their self esteem by proving to them that they are doing well with something specific: ex. "You have lots of interesting words like 'brilliant' and 'magical' in your writing example").
2. What they want to improve and next steps in their learning.
Click here to login to your parent account or sign up for an account or download the Freshgrade parent app. Parent / Teacher conferences will be on February 3rd and 4th. A sign up will be sent to you soon.
