From the SVE Admin Team
Year end is approaching, and that means Track and Field, Jump Rope for Heart (see below) Field Trips, celebrations, and planning for next year. It also means that anxiety begins to build in many of our students as they start thinking about having to say goodbye to their friends and teachers. We also know it begins to get harder to get young ones to bed as the days get longer and longer, but know that sleepy and tired children are not at their best when at school.
SMS parent Meeting for Grade Five Families: Please join us at the zoom link below on Wednesday May 18 for an information session about Springvalley Middle School.
Time: Wed. May 18, 2022 05:00 PM

Any changes for next year: Do you have and plans to move or change schools for next year? Please let the office know as soon as possible to help with our planning. If you, or someone you know has a four year old at home who is going to come to Kindergarten next year, follow this link to the information to help you with that process.
Attendance: Please let the office know if your child is going to be absent or late.
Supervision before and after school: We begin our supervision outside 8:10am each morning, and there are no staff members outside before that time. After school we have supervision outside until 2:43pm, and will ask any children not picked up or supervised by a parent at that time will be brought to the office for us to call you. There are a number of students playing after that time, and for safety reasons, we cannot leave them out there unsupervised.
Literacy Tips - There is a lot of research around how children learn to read and write, and we know that oral language plays a large role. Your child listening and speaking with you can actually help them develop as readers. Please see Mrs. Krebbers website here for more ideas and tips.
When your child is sick - Please keep your child home if they are sick. The best way to keep things from spreading is to keep sick children away from healthy children, and by handwashing and mask wearing when all together. Call the office if you have any questions. Thank you!

PAC Update
Happy May to the Springvalley Elementary community! I can believe we only have 2 months left of the 2021/2022 school year. Deadline to get your order and payments in for May 20th Hot Lunch is May 15th. No changes will be accepted after that deadline. If you have ordered but have not paid for your hot lunch by that time your order will be removed and your child will not receive what was ordered. If your child has not received their lunch you need to instruct your child to talk to an adult right away so that an immediate resolution can be found. Watch for the popular T Bone Gift Card fundraiser coming this month. It makes a great Father’s Day Gift or get one for BBQ season and help support the SVE community. Save the Date…. Friday June 17th! Your PAC is currently putting together a YEAR END EVENT. It will be an outdoor event that we will be bringing food trucks to so if there are any food trucks that you would like to see at the event please email us at [email protected] . More info on the event to follow closer to the date. The bottle fundraiser is still ongoing so if you have a lot of empty recycling cans you don’t wish to deal with then take them down to the Columbia Bottle Depot on Kent Rd. Please put in only 12 glass bottles per bag to prevent the bottles from breaking and cutting the bag or those sorting. Just use the phone number 250-870-5119. This is a year round fundraiser so you can drop your empties Have you signed up to our FACEBOOK page? This is a great resource to learn about upcoming fundraisers, school events, and free webinars available to the Springvalley Elementary school community. We would like to invite you to our next Springvalley Elementary PAC meeting on May 11th at 7pm through Zoom # 848 2130 155 just use the password SVEPAC. I would also like to remind everyone that your Springvalley Elementary Parent Advisory Council is here to help be a voice for you the parents so if you have great fundraising ideas, any ideas that could help enrich the school year for our children, or need support voicing your concerns please feel free to email us at [email protected] .
